Last Sunday, I had the opportunity to join some of my favorite Portland foodies at Produce Row Cafe for a tasting of their Beats & Brunch menu that they offer every Saturday and Sunday 10 am – 2 pm. It was my first time to try the restaurant, and I loved it. They offer indoor seating as well as outdoor, where you’re covered and heated as well.
I started off with a Bloody Maria, which I found to be extremely tasty! The service was expedient as well as amicable. I had a great time catching up with my friends about what everyone had been up to, where they’ve been eating, what they’re liking, and not liking. Usual foodie talks!
We all shared the daily special family style. Because a classic poached egg and asparagus dish deserves our attention for sure. And this is how we often enjoy dishes when we dine together in a group.
My friend Jenny (eatrichordietryin) had the French toast. When I saw her set up this shot, I had to get one for myself! Pouring shots are always so pretty!
I chose the farmhouse chop salad with steak for my dish. It was an abundance of goodies with beautifully dressed greens. It was a good thing Jenny helped me eat this big salad!
I highly recommend Produce Row Cafe for its fun atmosphere, great food, and cocktails for your Saturday and Sunday Brunch & Beats needs! Go check them out!
Hi. Off topic but I can’t seem to find an article you did some time ago about cha gio. I am looking for homemade cha gio, not the horrible stuff too many restaurants offer now. I seem to recall you had a few recommendations in this article. Hoping you can steer me to a few places in and around Portland who still make REAL cha gio from scratch. Thank you!

Hi Marguerite! Here’s the link to that past article for you. I think the 3 restaurants in Portland that make cha gio with rice paper (like Charles Phan’s Imperial Rolls) are Luc Lac, Jade Teahouse, and Pho Van. Aren’t they so much better that way?! https://portlandlovestory.com/2015/12/14/vietnamese-spring-rolls-cha-gio/
